. Ko wai mātou? Ko "BO & KO Baby" mātou. "BO" represents Amy's tama 'Beau', and “KO” represents Dayna's tama 'Koree', our pēpi/pepe are of Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Hinerangi, and Samoan descent. We thought it extremely fitting to name our pakihi after our two beautiful boys that made us māmā and gave us the drive and motivation to bring our brand to life.
...

BO & KO was born from a longing, a longing to raise tamariki (children) in spaces that reflect identity, where they come from, and what they carry within. It began in 2021, when friends and new māmā, Amy and Dayna, found themselves on maternity leave, carrying not just their pēpi, but a shared vision.

They didn’t just want their babies to feel loved, they wanted them to feel seen. They wanted their earliest memories to be shaped by the sounds and stories of their whakapapa. They wanted their surroundings, their nurseries, their play spaces, their kāinga, to echo the cultures that run deep within them.

But as they searched for baby products that reflected Māori and Pacific heritage, they were met with silence. Nothing truly spoke to their roots. So, they created what they couldn’t find, BO & KO Baby, a collection of baby essentials designed to celebrate culture from birth, in a way that is soft, modern, and deeply meaningful.

What they didn’t expect was how this journey would change them too.

In seeking to surround their tamariki with culture, they began to reclaim their own.

Their pakihi (business) has become part of their journey, a way to walk back towards the stories of their tūpuna, to reconnect with their whenua, and to truly find themselves. Two years into their reo Māori journey, they are learning to speak the language their ancestors carried, so they can pass it on with pride.

Alongside their journey to reclaim their culture, something shifted. What began as BO & KO Baby, a brand to surround their pēpi in culture, grew into providing a space for whānau, for kāinga, for identity at every stage of life. And so their homeware collection was born and BO & KO evolved.

This is no longer just about pēpi, it’s about the whole whānau. BO & KO holds space that uplifts the wairua, creating cozy corners that welcome rest, textures that soften the harshness of the world, kāinga (homes) where you can lay down your burdens and simply be

Emotionally, it touches something deep, a longing many feel to reconnect, to raise their tamariki (children) differently, and to create homes that are not just styled, but tell stories.

Products have been thoughtfully curated to resonate not only with tangata whenua, but with anyone who feels the pull of indigenous beauty and stories. Those who feel the mauri in every piece, a quiet power, a sense of belonging. Through soft textiles, grounding colours, and meaningful design, BO & KO offers a gentle invitation to connect, celebrate, and honour culture in everyday life. Our taonga are for all who value authenticity, aroha, and identity, woven into the very fabric of our work.

Every piece is woven with intention, from the organic materials chosen, to the narratives embedded in the designs. These are taonga that belong in the spaces where tamariki (children) are raised, where wairua is uplifted, where cups are filled and memories are made.

BO & KO is more than a brand.
It’s a quiet return home.
A celebration of who we are, and who we’re still becoming.
For our babies.
For ourselves.
For the generations to come.

...
At the heart of our pakihi is the love for our whānau, a commitment to revitalising
Te Ao Māori and Pacific culture, and a focus on high-quality products.
